Our Story

AlpenFlow was born on a crisp Tahoe morning when three friends set out to ski Rubicon Peak. What should have been a day of untracked powder turned into frustration—our bindings kept failing us.

We realized the hybrid bindings we relied on weren’t living up to the hype: unreliable releases, broken parts, and transitions that felt more like chores. Instead of settling, we decided to create the solution ourselves.

Cobey, who has been living in Tahoe and working in the ski industry, teamed up with Steven and Jesse, engineers specializing in precision measurement equipment. Together, we combined our passion for skiing with technical expertise to tackle the challenge of designing bindings that skiers can depend on. Starting a company in the ski industry wasn’t easy, but we were driven by a shared belief that skiers deserve gear that enhances their experience, not hinders it.

With a vision for a binding that’s dependable, simple, and crafted with care, we spent over three years designing and refining the ALPENFLOW 89. Made in California with sustainability in mind, it’s a binding built for seamless transitions and unmatched durability—because your gear should elevate your adventure, not hold you back.

Built from the Ground Up

AlpenFlow Design is a labor of passion, entirely self-funded and self-started by the three of us. From early prototypes to final designs, every step of the journey has been fueled by our belief in creating something better for the skiing community. Without outside funding or big corporate backing, we’ve worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life—just three skiers with a dream, determination, and a lot of grit.

Locally Manufactured

We’re proud to call California home, and every pair of our bindings is designed, tested, and made right here. By keeping as many processes as possible local, we ensure unmatched quality and precision while supporting the local economy. Our hands-on approach allows us to stay true to our vision and remain connected to the community that inspires us.

Designed for Skiers, By Skiers

As lifelong skiers we set out to build our idea of a perfect hybrid binding but, in reality, we built the ALPENFLOW 89 to be the ideal setup for a professional skier. Many of the design constraints were set by Noah Gaffney, and in a way we built the 89 for him. We also believe in supporting skiers directly by creating opportunities for them to share in our success through revenue sharing partnerships.

Sustainability in Every Step

We believe in preserving the mountains we love for generations to come. That’s why sustainability is at the core of our manufacturing process. We source responsibly, minimize waste, and focus on durability so our bindings don’t just perform—they endure. By crafting long-lasting products, we’re reducing our footprint while helping you leave yours on the snow, not the planet.

Durability and Performance

All parts of the ALPEN FLOW 89 are assembled and tested in-house, using components either manufactured by us or sourced from reputable suppliers. We employ CNC machines with low-error tolerances to ensure every binding meets the highest standards of quality.
