Independent Release Value Adjustment
The heel piece allows you to independently adjust you lateral and vertical release "Z" values, within a range of 5-13.
Custom Colors and Engravings
Customize the color of every piece on your binding, and engrave anything you'd like onto the heel piece.
Forward Pressure and BSL Adjustment of 30mm
Forward pressure is a key part of what makes the AF89 ski so well. As your ski flexes, the binding adjusts to keep consistent contact and load on your boot. For the skier, that means better power transfer and edge control + hold, delivering a smoother, more confident ride.
Multi-Axis Alpine Heel
The heel precisely controls both vertical AND lateral release forces providing consistent and predictable release. Massive springs and 40 mm of recentering elastic travel maximize energy absorption and vastly improve ski retention in the chop.
LockTurn Toe Piece
The LockTurn toe mechanically locks the boot into the binding while skiing, allowing it to be skied hard without worrying about pre-lease. It only unlocks once it fully rotates in the event of a fall. The heel controls the forces required to rotate the toe and the toe "detects" the fall when it fully rotates.
Toe Brakes
Our toe brakes manage themselves, automatically stowing whenever your boot is in the binding and deploying the moment it’s not. No levers to flip, no mousetrap mechanisms, and no more skis sliding away because you forgot to deploy your brakes. And when it’s time to step in, they help guide your boot for smooth, repeatable entry.
Groundbreaking Release System
The AF89's unique release system makes it the first pin binding that delivers comparable performance to alpine bindings.
Toe Lever
Flip the toe lever up to lock out the rotation of the binding for touring. Flip it back down to enable the rotation for skiing.
Adjustable AFD
Easily tune the anti-friction device to any compatible boot using simple spacers for consistent, reliable release. Once set, it stays locked in place. Switching boots? Just add or remove spacers.
Game Changing Transitions
No other binding is as easy to use, or transitions as fast as the AF89. With automatically stowing brakes and an all new transition system, you can go from ski to walk to risers to ski by just flipping the heel with your pole.
A True Hybrid Binding
A true hybrid binding isn’t an alpine binding that can tour, or a touring binding that skis well enough. It’s a binding designed from the ground up to do both—so nothing holds you back, uphill or down.
Touring Performance
No-Step-Out Transitions
Ski > Walk > Ski using only your pole. Just flip the heel piece.
No need to worry about the brake, it's always stowed when skiing and skinning, and always deployed when the ski is off.
Adapt To Any Slope Angle
Always In the Right "Mode"
There is no more ski mode and walk mode. There is just open and closed.
Whether you're transitioning, stepping out, or using your heel risers, all you need to do is flip the heel piece with your pole.
Ski Performance
Redefining the Pin Binding
Eliminating pre-release.
Enabling alpine performance.
Releasing reliably.
The LockTurn Toe
Our rotating toe piece mechanically locks the pins closed during skiing, only unlocking once the toe has been fully rotated or the boot has been pitched over forward.
The LockTurn Toe
Allowing it to act as a "fall detector", locking closed during skiing, preventing pre-release. Only unlocking in the event of a fall.
Multi-Axis Heel Piece
The alpine style heel precisely controls the forces required to release both laterally and vertically.
Energy Absorption
Massive springs enable real recentering elasticity, allowing the heel to absorb energy and eat the chop while precisely and reliably controlling release.
Alpine Performance
Forward pressure paired with the large rigid clamp of the alpine heel maximize your ability to transfer power to your ski throughout your ski turn.
Alpine Performance
A New System
The result is a toe piece and heel piece that work together to form a reliable release system. The heel piece controls the release forces and adapts as the ski flexes. The toe piece locks you in during skiing and then releases when a fall is "detected".
